Decatur School teachers, staff get COVID-19 vaccine

News

UPDATE: Teachers and staff were able to get vaccinated today.

In all, about 90 vaccines were administered and school staff said getting these shots was vital not only for adults, but for the kids as well.

“The irregularity of a teacher having to be quarantined more than once is uncomfortable for those students. You know, that’s their safe place. So if their teacher is in and out, that can cause them to have some mistrust issues and discomfort from not having the standard of that their regular school day is,” said Kris Davis, Decatur Public Schools social worker.

Staff said their school nurse was the driving force behind getting them their shots so quickly.

DECATUR, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – Decatur schools will take a remote learning day tomorrow, January 21.

This will be used to get teachers and staff vaccinated against COVID-19.

So far, Decatur has not had to close for any outbreaks.
