Detective Comments on Investigation into Possible Inappropriate Teacher-Student Relationship

CENTERTON, Ark. (KNWA) -- A police official has released a statement regarding a Bentonville West High School teacher possibly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Detective Alex Wallace with the Centerton Police Department said his department was advised of the possible relationship on Sept. 6.

"The Centerton Police Department is conducting an investigation to ascertain if any criminal conduct has been committed," Wallace said in the statement. "This is an active investigation and no details will be released at this time. We do not want to jeopardize the integrity of the case. Once our investigation is complete, we will release a follow up statement regarding the outcome."

The Bentonville School Board will have a regularly-scheduled meeting Monday night, but it has not been confirmed whether or not the investigation into the possible inappropriate relationship will be discussed during the meeting.
