The Arkansas Department of Human Services will begin offering online classes for kids placed in safe homes by the juvenile criminal justice system.
Beginning in August…their division of youth services will utilize a project called Virtual Arkansas that offers coursework from licensed teachers.
DHS says this program takes care of a need they’ve had.
The youth centers are often in rural locations… which means hiring a teacher can be difficult.
Virtual Arkansas will provide students with credits for high school and college… along with advanced placement courses and coding lessons.
