BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Several organizations gathered Friday to host the Dia de los Muertos — or Day of the Dead — festival in Bentonville.
The first ever event kicked off with a performance by the Equilibrium Dance Company and a welcome from organizers.
It’s a predominantly Mexican tradition, and one man is using it to teach his kids more about their heritage.
“Sometimes it’s easy to forget your cultural background, so today I just decided to push this on my kids so they don’t forget where they came from and where their ancestors are from,” said Daniel De Leon, Dia de los Muertos.
The Dia de los Muertos festival continues Saturday at the Peel Mansion Museum and the Heritage Gardens.
You can experience traditional foods and a Spanish language play.
