Police were horrified when they discovered a dog that had its mouth and legs duct-taped in the middle of a Missouri quarry.
After being taken to seek medical attention, a veterinarian reported the dog, named Jimmy, couldn’t move, bark, or even open his mouth.
Investigators believe Paul Garcia bound the dog’s paws with electrical duct tape and threw him into a ditch where he sat for approximately 12 hours in the cold and was malnourished.
To find the person responsible for this, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) had to get creative.
“They had to go and freeze this tape that was on him, little by little, and pull it apart bit-by-bit in order to find that fingerprint and maintain it,” JCSO’s Grant Bissell said.
With that evidence, it helped Jefferson County’s Prosecutor charge Garcia with animal abuse and armed criminal action.
