In a story we updated you on Thursday, Kevin Wayne Clayborn was arrested on charges of capital murder. He’s accused of murdering 48 year old Misha Rivera.

Police believes Clayborn lived with the victim and that they were in a relationship.
Clayborn is accused of killing Rivera and stealing her car. Rivera was found murdered in her living room and was herself a domestic violence advocate working at the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter thrift store for more than a year.

We reached out to another shelter today who tells us its crucial to get help before a situation like this becomes deadly.

“Every year there are domestic homicides in Arkansas and  across the country, that is part of the reason we focus on safety so much, ”  said Eva Terry, Development Director, Peace at Home Shelter.
“In our experience it very rarely gets better. If there is physical violence or there is control in a relationship and you feel unsafe, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help.” Terry said.

The shelter adds 1 in 4 women will be a victim of  domestic violence in their lifetime.
The Women’s Shelter thrift store  in Rogers will be closed until Monday to give employees time to mourn the loss of Misha Rivera.
