SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) — NWA residents have a chance to help two local women’s shelters.
The Chase Family Foundation is hosting its 4th Annual Help the Girls event on Thursday, Sept. 20 and is asking community members to donate new or gently used bras and women’s underwear. All donations will go to the Peace at Home Family Shelter and the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter.
The foundation has collected 1,022 bras worth over $40,000 since its first event. Both shelters have given away 575 undergarments since last year, a Chase Family Foundation news release states.
These items are needed by women who are trying to transition into a safe environment.
“In many situations a woman leaving an abusive situation leave their homes with just the clothes on their back. The comfort of receiving a new bra or panty could give them the confidence they need to move on with their life,” the news release states.
Event will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Springdale Country Club, 608 W. Lakeview Drive. The event is drop-in with light hors d’oeuvers and cash bar.
