Duckboat Company Settles Death-Related Lawsuit

BRANSON, Ark. (KNWA) — Ripley Entertainment has settled its first lawsuit related to the sinking of a duckboat on Table Rock Lake, killing 17 people.

That’s according to the Kansas City Star.

William Bright, 65, and 63-year-old Janice Bright were from Higginsville and both died onboard when the boat went down on July 19.

The couple traveled to Branson to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.

The couple’s three daughters filed the suit.

Four plaintiffs were named in the suit: Ride the Ducks International, the captain of the boat, its driver on land – who also died in the sinking – and Ripley Entertainment.

At this time, Ripley Entertainment is the only entity that has settled; the others listed are stilled named defendants in the suit.
