News

The Eiffel Tower, France’s most iconic monument, celebrated its 130th birthday on Sunday, March 31 under a sunny Parisian blue sky as crowds of visitors lined up to get a closer look at the iron structure or even a panoramic view of the city from the top.

Rising 1,063 feet above Paris, the famed “Iron Lady” was designed by Parisian Engineer Gustave Eiffel and built for the 1889 Universal Exhibition.

The construction of the most famous of Parisian monuments took two years, two months and five days, which was considered a technical masterpiece at the time, and mobilized between 300 and 450 workers.

Since then, the Eiffel Tower has been undergoing several improvements and renovations.

Seven million tourist visit the Eiffel Tower each year and 300 million have come from all over the world to discover it since 1889.

The Eiffel Tower is located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France.
