FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Tuesday’s elections allowed Arkansans without a voter ID to take advantage of provisional ballots.
This voting method requires extra paperwork, but still allows people to take part in the election.
Election coordinator Jennifer Price said it’s a way for those who forgot their IDs a way to vote.
“We ended up with about 28 provisional votes cast during early and election day for lack of ID, but the voters signed all the verifications and we verified their voter registration information, so the commission will review those today and then they’ll receive letters in the mail about if their ballot counted or didn’t count,” Price said.
Price said there are also provisional ballots for those no longer registered in Washington County or not in the poll books.
