Escaped Inmate Believed to be Back in Pettis County Area

News

PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. – An escaped inmate is believed to have returned to the Pettis County area after eluding authorities in Oklahoma.

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office located a truck Sunday (3/18/19) night that had been stolen from Heavener, Oklahoma, the last reported sighting of Travis Davis, 30. A ground and air search of the area failed to locate the suspect.

Surrounding agencies have been notified and are searching the area for Davis. He is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information on where Davis is are asked to contact the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at 660-827-0052.

Davis escaped from the Pettis County Jail earlier this month. Authorities searched the area, but were unable to find him after the escape. Davis reappeared last week in Oklahoma when authorities arrested him after he allegedly held a woman at gunpoint and made her drive. While in the police vehicle alone, Davis was able to climb into the front seat and steal the car. It was found crashed a few miles down the road with Davis no where to be found.
