We have exclusive recordings of the Centerton Mayor laughing off serious complaints made against the city’s interim police chief.
Fox 24 knows of ten discrimination and misconduct complaints filed against Centerton Leuitenant Anthony Keck since named interim police chief in May 2018.
“He’ll pick you, he finds you and if you don’t fall in his regiem, or don’t do what he thinks you should do he starts picking on you until you quit, “says anonymous employee.
“What he did was once he didn’t like you he would constantly write you up. After one of my write ups he was talking about the issues and then insulted me about my military career because he knew I served 23 years in the military,” says anonymous employee.
Current and former officers who would like to remain anonymous, reached out to Fox 24 claiming they have been targeted by Lt. Keck for not doing what he wants.
“I told Mayor, “here, this is my fourth complaint I want it dealt with now.” He said my complaints were unfounded and that he deletes his emails because he don’t want them to be FOIA’d,” says anonymous employee.
According to police policy, complaints against the Chief are to be reported to the Mayor. The officers say that’s what they did but were ignored.
“The mayor has seen his behavior, the city prosecutor has seen his behavior. I let the city prosecutor hear a recording where Keck quoted, “I’ll tell you what to do with that pill shove it up your a** you dumb mother******. He said that in front of a police clerk and myself,” says anonymous employee.
During our investigation, we uncovered recorded conversations of Mayor Bill Edwards talking about a complaint lasting over a year.
“I got another one guy I gotta deal with, an officer making a complaint. He gave me dialogue and complaints over a year,” says anonymous employee.
The Mayor, laughs.
We went to the Mayor’s office to ask him about these alligations and the recorded conversations. This was the response:
Katie Davila: “do you have any comment on any of that?”
Mayor Bill Edwards: “We’re letting our city attorney take care of this.”
We then reached out to the city attorney who didn’t return the three calls made to him.
Several employees who filed complaints reached out to Fox 24 after we were the first to show you a video showing officer David Lopez making a formal complaint against Lt. Keck.
Mayor Edwards says he has not done anything about the complaints because he doesn’t know what to do and can’t fire Keck.
Several employees say they don’t know who to trust in the city.
“Everything that I have done has been through him and look where it’s gotten me,” says anonymous.
