(KARK) Families of fallen soldiers from Arkansas are remembering their loved ones who lost their lives while in the line of duty.
The Arkansas National Guard held its annual memorial service Sunday in Little Rock to honor Arkansans killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as service members killed in wars dating back to the War of 1812.
Families who attended say while its tough to remember who’ve they’ve lost, they say they’re in good company.
“It’s kind of painful, however its an opportunity for those of us that did lose loved ones, especially the Iraqian we are pretty close because we spend time each month together,” one family member said.
Twenty Arkansas soldiers were honored for their service during the memorial.
