FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — A memorial service was held at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
The name of 20 fallen officers from Washington, Benton and Madison counties were read at the service.
Roses were then presented to family members that were in attendance.
“It’s just kind of a great day, a great way for us to show that we haven’t forgotten the ultimate sacrifice that many gave,” said Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder.
Helder went on to say that the service reminds law enforcement officers that there are dangers with their job and they need to be alert at all times.
