Farmington Resident Looking for Answers After Horse Shot to Death

FARMINGTON, Ark. (KNWA) — It’s an alarming case of animal abuse and the pet owner wants answers after finding her horse shot to death. Morgan Cosby says her horse, Jackie Maybel, is running free in heaven while her killer is running free on the streets.

According to Cosby, the incident happened Friday May 11 around 6:15 p.m. at her farm located off of highway 70. That’s where she found her horse dead with a gun shot wound to the head.

Cosby says she just wants to know why.

“We just need closure, if it was an accident so be it. It is ok. We will move on. But if it was malaciously done, then we need to know what we need to do to protect ourselves and our animals and our family,” Cosby said.

Killing a horse is considered a class d felony in the state of Arkansas.

Farmington police say as of right now, they have not received any other animal cruelty calls like this.

If you have any information about what happened, you are encouraged to call Farmington Police Department.
