The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce made its stance clear Wednesday on casinos in Washington County. Chamber President Steve Clark said it opposes Issue Five in a press conference. The amendment would allow casinos to operate in Washington, Boone and Miller counties. Clark said that the Chamber opposes the issue because the casinos are out of state control, and they do not coincide with Fayetteville’s economic development plans for the region.
“What we are trying to create are really well paying jobs, not only living wage jobs but better than living wage jobs in those fields of education, healthcare and innovation,” said Steve Clark, President & CEO of Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. “We’re doing that, and this just doesn’t fit.”
