Fayetteville City Council also promised to brighten the trails.

Council members voted in favor of asking the federal government for hundreds-of-thousands of dollars for trail lighting.

Five-hundred-thousand-dollars would be used to light the Rupple Road trail and $160,000 for Gulley Park.

If approved, the money will come from the Federal Aid Transportation Alternatives Program.
