Fayetteville Combats Homelessness

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — The City of Fayetteville, in partnership with the Hark Center for Collaborative Care, is launching a new campaign to curb homelessness.

The Help a Neighbor Fund Campaign uses a text to give a platform where people can donate money for people in need.

The city is placing more than a dozen roadway signs with the text to give information at the city’s busiest intersections.

“We were seeing individuals having to struggle to make their utility payments, to pay their rent. They have medical issues or vehicle problems and the resources were running out. So, we decided that we needed to step in and we needed to make a difference,” said Yolanda Fields, Fayetteville’s community resources director.

All proceeds will go directly to those in need.

Recipients must be Fayetteville residents of low to moderate income.
