Fayetteville New Year’s Eve Shooting Suspect Arrested

A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Fayetteville on New Year’s Eve.

Devonta Maurice Smith, 18, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree battery, aggravated assault and committing a terroristic act, according to Sgt. Tony Murphy, public information officer for the Fayetteville Police Department.

The shooting occurred in the 1100 block of Curtis Avenue at 10:46 p.m. The person who was shot was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No further information was provided on Smith’s arrest.
