The Fayetteville Race Series, a program of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department, kicks off another year with the Frozen Toes 15K Trail Run on Saturday, February 16.
The series used the trail system on Kessler Mountain to offer a different type of running experience, and KNWA caught up with one runner who attended the event.
“I run D1 cross country so I’m trying to find races around here and train on my own right now, ” Josh Jaggernuth said.
The event is ideal for runners looking to transition from a 5K or 10K to a longer distance or to gain more trail racing experience, according to the series website.
A 15K run is approximately 9.32 miles.
The registration fee was $35 and included electronic chip timing, custom event logo socks, finisher medals, post-race soup, and a post-race beer for those 21+.
Prizes were awarded to the overall top three male and female finishers.
