Students from Fayetteville Public Schools celebrated being green at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
The annual green team celebration highlights how the students have made their schools more energy efficient.
The students got to enjoy educational activities with an environmental theme that were led by different community leaders.
Sim Barrow, the environmental science coordinator for Fayetteville Public Schools, said these projects go beyond the classroom.
“A really important thing that we can doing here with our schools is help plant the seeds to value our natural resources, to teach that small actions, individual actions can lead to big impacts for sustainability of the world,” Barrow said.
Barrow said he hopes that this program inspires the students to become leaders at school and in their communities when it comes to making a change.
