This week is fire prevention week.
Drills are practiced at work and school, but experts say many times families don’t know what to do when the fire alarm goes off at home. New survey data from Nationwide Insurance finds only one in five parents regularly practice fire escape plans at home. Only 55% of parents say their children know what to do in the event of a fire at home.
To encourage families to have an escape plan, Nationwide’s Make Safe Happen program is launching its first-ever home fire drill day on Saturday, October 15. You can learn more about making a fire plan for your home here.
