First IMAX Screening in Fayetteville Will Be the Last Jedi

Fayetteville’s first IMAX theater is opening just in time for the newest release in the Star Wars franchise.

The Malco Razorback’s first IMAX screening will be of Star Wars The Last Jedi. Renovations for the IMAX began in November 2016. Karen Melton with Malco tells us it was important to the company to finish in time for the Winter blockbuster.

The IMAX screen is about 52 feet wide and 28 feet tall. Upgraded sound and picture quality look to lure in more movie-goers, but getting people to the theater this weekend won’t need any extra help. Melton says she expects long lines all weekend long. She says, “Definitely expecting sold out shows across all different formats. Whether it be IMAX, the regular 2-D, 3-D, or even in at most, we are going to have sell-outs.”

Melton adds safety and security are still a top priority even with all the Star Wars fun. She says, “We’re going to ask that you please leave your light sabers at home. We don’t allow any face masks. You’re welcome to come in costume, but no face masks, no light sabers, no weapons whether they be real or fake of any kind are allowed in the building.”

With the Star Wars franchise being so popular, Melton says it’s best to get your tickets before you go to make sure you get a seat.
