LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA) — Arkansas’ first pediatric flu death has been reported.
The Arkansas Department of Health confirmed the child’s death Friday morning.
The total number of deaths in the Natural State for the flu season that began in October now stands at six.
The fifth flu death in the state was reported on Tuesday.
The person who died Tuesday was in the 45-64 age range, according to Meg Mirivel, public information director for the Arkansas Department of Health.
That death came exactly one week after the fourth death was reported. That victim was also in the 45-64 age range.
The first flu death was reported in October. That victim was also in the 45-64 age range. Mirivel described both the second and third flu deaths as people in the 45-65 age range.
