Flu cases are on the rise around the country.
The Centers for Disease Control reported that the flu is now widespread in 45 states.
The number is up from a week ago, with a reported 36 states.
Two more children died of complications from the flu bringing the total national number of pediatric deaths to 24 this season.
The majority of people who get the flu recover from it without any issues.
Those most at risk for developiong complications include young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Doctors say it is not too late to get vaccinated and when it comes to preventing the flu, the Centers for Disease Control recommend a number of things you can do:
- Get your flu shot
- Wash your hands often.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay away from other people who are sick
