The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is seeing a shortage in blood, during this flu season.
It takes about 200 donors each day to meet the need here in our area. Patients rely on blood donations every day regardless of whether its flu or cold season.
Chris Pilgrim with CBCO says, “Since we lost about 500 donations during the month of January, we’ve got to make that up. We schedule blood drives months in advance. We really don’t have the capacity to ramp up production, we’ve got to rely on donors feeling well.”
Those who want to donate, but aren’t feeling well can defer until another date.
