An 11th flu-related death has been reported in Arkansas.
The latest flu death was announced by Meg Mirivel, public information officer for the Arkansas Department of Health.
The latest victim is in the 65 and older age range, according to Mirivel.
Four deaths were announced last week on Jan. 3. Those deaths include two people in the age range of 65 and older and two people in the 45-64 age range.
Mirivel reported the state’s first pediatric flu death of this flu season on Dec. 21.
Overall, the Centers for Disease Control has reported a total of 11 pediatric death nationally this season.
Since September 30, 2018, more than 2,700 positive influenza tests have been reported to ADH by health care providers. That total has increased from last week total – 2,300.
