FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is seeing a shortage in blood this flu season.
According to the CBCO, it takes about 200 donors each day to meet the needs of Northwest Arkansas.
Patients rely on that blood every day, regardless of flu season or a cold snap like a few weeks ago.
CBCO said during this flu season, blood drives have not met their goals.
One of the prerequisites to donate is that donors feel good, and with the flu, the center received around 500 less donations in January than expected.
People who want to donate but aren’t feeling well can get deferred until another date.
