BELLA VISTA, Ark. (KFTA) — A former Bella Vista detective will spend 60 days in jail for stealing prescription medicine from the department.

Clayton Roberts, 37, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to tampering with physical evidence.

Between 2015 and 2017, Roberts stole medications from both the evidence room and the drug take-back bin inside the police department.

He was arrested in January after the police chief asked the Benton County Sheriff’s Office to conduct and investigation on missing evidence affecting multiple cases.

Roberts said he started stealing the pills because he had an addiction, according to a police affidavit.
