A man from Fort Smith was arrested last week for an armed robbery in Jane, Missouri.
McDonald County Deputies responded to the report of an armed robbery at Boonslick Lodge in rural Jane, Missouri on January 31.
Sam Young was arrested for burglary in the first degree. He also had a parole violation out of Arkansas.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the hotel employee who Young had already fled the scene on foot. According to witness statements, he broke into the hotel cash drawer, removed all the currency and fled on foot while the clerk was away from the front desk.
Witness added that he then came back into the lobby a few minutes later and gave her a note stating he had a gun and asked for the keys to her car. After a brief altercation, the suspect again fled the scene on foot.
Once the crime scene was secured, deputies began a search of the area where they later located Young, which matched the suspect description at a Wal-Mart. Young did not have identification and gave deputies false information.
He was then transported to the McDonald County Detention Center and his identity was confirmed through fingerprint scanning.
Young later confessed to MCSO Detectives to the robbery as well as another burglary at the same hotel two weeks prior to this incident.
Young is currently being held at the McDonald County Detention Center. Further charges are pending. There were no injuries reported during the course of this incident.
