Former Ecclesia College President Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (FOX24) - Judge Timothy L. Brooks sentenced former Ecclesia College President Oren Paris III to three years in federal prison on Wednesday for his role in a kickback scheme involving the college and former State Senator Jon Woods. 

Paris will also have to pay $621,500 in restitution and serve three years of probation after he is released. He requested to be sent to the federal prison in Cedarville, TX. 

Paris pleaded guilty in April to fraud charges after previously maintaining his innocence. 

Paris, along with former State Senator Jon Woods and consultant Randell Shelton, Jr. was accused of funneling state money into an account at Ecclesia College in Springdale.

In turn, Woods and Paris would receive kickbacks from the school. 

Woods was sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison on Sept. 5. Shelton was sentenced to six years in federal prison on Sept. 6. 

Former State Representative Micah Neal was also involved in the scheme and pleaded guilty to bribe conspiracy in January of 2017, he is set to be sentenced tomorrow.
