Kids Aim for BB Gun Championship in NWA

ROGERS, Ark. (KFTA) -- After 53 years, a shooting competition is still going strong in Northwest Arkansas.

Hundreds of 8 to 15 year olds competed in the Daisy National BB Gun Championship on Monday.

Fifty-five teams came from states all over the country, including Oregon, Texas and Virginia.

Most of the participants have participated in 4-H shooting clubs for years.

"Every kid dreams of getting a Daisy BB gun, and it is a wonderful way for kids to learn gun safety. It's inexpensive. Many times they begin a lifelong passion with shooting," said Lawrence Taylor, public relations director for Daisy

The kids competing have the chance to win a traveling trophy as well as bragging rights for the year.

KNWA reporter Deni Kamper shot one of the guns for her very first time Monday morning.
