Man Heads to Prison for Six Years; Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

Fayetteville man sentenced to six years in prison for killing another man

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) - A Fayetteville man, charged with second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, according to the Washington County Circuit Court, Wednesday, February 27.

Quinton Lamar Taylor, 24, will serve six years at the Arkansas Department of Correction facility, he has 277 days of jail time credit, per the court order.

Last May 25, police from the University of Arkansas arrested Taylor, who's from Fayetteville, on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of Mountainburg resident George Morrison, 51.

Morrison was found unresponsive near a homeless camp by 7hills Homeless Center, off South School Avenue and West 19th Street, and police said it appeared Morrison had been injured from being in a fight Thursday (May 24).

The Mountainburg man was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center where police said he later died from his injuries.
