The Missing Piece: Solving Two Cold Cases

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) -- Two missing persons cases are back in the spotlight as a local sheriff's office and a local police department work to close both.

One of the cases involves a 15 year old that vanished, while the other revolves around a Pea Ridge police officer that disappeared not long after.

While the two disappearances aren't linked one could hold crucial information to cracking the other.

"She was never seen or heard from again," said Sgt.Hunter Petray, a detective with the Benton County Sheriffs Office as he described the night April Andrews went missing.

Andrews, 15 at the time, was last seen Nov. 18 2006, getting into a white pick up truck outside of her parents Pea Ridge apartment.

Just a few years after Andrew's disappearance, Cerilla Doyle the responding officer to the missing call, also disappeared.

"We received a call of a missing person in our area this person was also a police officer in pea ridge that was involved in a missing persons case," Officer Gene Page with the Bentonville Police Department.

Doyle was last seen Oct. 28, 2008, buying a bus ticket at a Rogers gas station.

Both cases continue to look for closure, but one could hold information that could help solve the other.

"The report was pretty vague not a lot of information there was no canvas of the apartment complex done at that point in time since that time Cerilla Doyle, who was the initial reporting officer, herself has gone missing," Sgt. Petray responded when asked about the importance of finding Doyle.

According to Sgt. Petray, the detective on the Andrews case he says these two aren't connected.

"I do not see a connection with that with the two cases, but obviously I would like to interview Cerilla just to get some of her recollection from that night that she took the April Andrew reports," Petray said.

Although the case has been cold for sometime, the Benton County Sheriff's Office feels they are getting closer to closing the Andrews case.

"We have some suspects identified and we are following up on those," added Sgt. Petray

In Bentonville, the focus is on finding Doyle.

"Anybody out there with any information needs to contact law enforcement or have them contact us immediately something that would help us close out the case or at least try to get some of the closure for the family," Page said.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of either Cerilla Doyle or April Andrews, you are encouraged to contact authorities.

Anyone who has any info regarding Andrews' whereabouts or the circumstances of her disappearance is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (479) 271-1008. Anyone who knows about Doyle's whereabouts or the circumstances of her disappearance is asked to call Bentonville police at (479) 271-3170.
