Fox And Your Family: Toddlers And Speech

FOX AND YOUR FAMILY REPORT- As a parent you are constantly worrying about your child. Keeping track of their every move, counting how many words he or she may be saying. But when should you be concerned if you notice something?

Melissa Dillon is over the moon with her sweet boy Owen. He is three year’s old and a year and half ago his pediatrician noticed he wasn’t speaking as much as he should.

Owen was diagnosed with the developmental speech disorder “apraxia of speech” a person or child has trouble saying what he or she wants to say correctly or consistently. Owen’s case is mild and a speech-language pathologist recommended therapy to treat it.

While it has taken time, all the hard work seems to be paying off. Results will vary and the earlier the intervention for any speech disorder, the better.
