Free Turkeys Given to Asbell Elementary Students

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — The Books and Bites Program continues it’s partnership with the Fayetteville Public Library Friday with a free turkey giveaway.

The program is in its third year and serves the students who attend Asbell Elementary School.

Turkeys were distributed in car rider lines and by pickup Friday afternoon.

“Books and Bites  is a wonderful program where the Fayetteville Public Library, in conjunction with some other sponsors, come in a couple times a year. They give two books to each student every time they’re here, and we do an activity with a nutritious snack or nutritious food, and they also get some food items at that time,” said Tracy Bratton, Asbell principal. “This is more evidence of what a loving, caring community we have in Fayetteville.”
