FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA) — Fort Smith Public Schools is accepting applications for the School Choice Program, but the deadline is soon.

“School Choice is the program authorized by the Arkansas General Assembly in The Public School Choice Act of 2015 that allows parents to apply for their child’s admission to participating school districts other than the one in which they reside,” Tina Dale, spokeswoman for Fort Smith Schools, said in a news release.

The deadline for applications is May 1.

Though parents may indicate a school preference, assignments will be made on the basis of space and program availability.

Application forms are available at the Office of the Executive Director of Student Services, Fort Smith Public Schools, 3205 Jenny Lind Road.
