Fuel Costs Up for Labor Day Weekend

Fuel for this Labor Day weekend could cost more than expected. That’s thanks in part to Hurricane Harvey.

It knocked out two of the country’s largest oil refineries along the Texas gulf coast. That means a drop in production, by about 30 percent. Triple A says drivers should expect a short-term spike this week of about 15 cents and that prices should drop again by mid-to-late September.

Police will be out on the roads this holiday weekend. There will be extra check points as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Police say Labor Day is one of the most deadly travel holidays of the year.
