An interactive studio session was held Wednesday in Fayetteville to draw up future plans for the 71B corridor project.
Fayetteville city planners and designers allowed people to discuss and draw their vision for the highway directly on maps.
The session focused on the northern part of 71B from North Street to the city limits at Lake Fayetteville.
Participants looked at possibilities for appearance, traffic flow, single and family housing and redevelopment.
“Looking at opportunities like parking lots that aren’t fully utilized which there’s some gigantic ones, shopping centers which aren’t really meeting market requirements and beginning to inject population,” said Marty Shukurt.
Another meeting is scheduled to be held next month outlining priorities, including short, medium and long terms as well as starting to build a plan for the corridor.
