The Garland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting.
It happened shortly after midnight in the 3900 block of Highway 7 North just outside of Hot Springs Village at a car wash when deputies spotted a car that was possibly stolen.
According to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies tried to box the suspect and vehicle into one of the stalls.
That’s when they say he put the car into reverse ramming a patrol car behind him.
The Officer driving said he then threw it in drive and sped toward the deputy in front of him who fired shots.
People who live in the area said this is a rare occurrence.
“It’s just kind of a weird feeling that I’m in a stall where somebody could’ve got shot at or shot,” said Garland County resident Michael Esch.
The Garland County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, who’s an active parolee, was injured after he was hit by a bullet.
Both the suspect and the officer who was in the patrol car he rammed are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
