KNWA Today’s Meteorologist Heidi Waggoner and Steve Cunningham with GE Lighting surprised Mr. Thomas Holland at Helen Tyson Middle School as a Brightest Classroom. Mr. Holland and his 7th grade students received a $500 Walmart/Sam’s Club gift card for classroom supplies.
Mr. Holland hopes to use the funds to help with a special project: “We need the money so we can buy advanced technologies for classrooms, some of the things we plan to buy are motion sensing light bulbs, solar film, and high tech power strips that can turn off each power source individually. We want to use the funds to make this classroom a demonstration of different methods for creating a “green” classroom environment that promotes sustainability within schools.”
