Brightest Classroom: Mrs. Kerri Hester, Turnbow Elementary

GE Brightest Classroom
Chief Meteorologist Dan Skoff and Susan Bugos with GE Lighting, awarded Mrs. Kerri Hester and her 3rd grade students as a Brightest Classroom. Mrs. Hester teaches at Turnbow Elementary in Springdale, and she was given a $500 Walmart/Sam’s Club gift card for classroom supplies.

“We are a Title I school which means that our school’s population has about 80% of students are on the free and reduced lunch program. With appropriate tools and upgraded technology I would like to provide my students with opportunities to excel and be able to create high quality projects. The new Common Core State Standards are a project based set of standards that require students to research, create, and present information throughout the year. With this grant money, I would purchase a color printer for students to use to produce and create their projects and presentations.  I believe this would foster creativity and pride in my students as they work with this technology to aid in their achievement of these projects based standards. Currently, the entire school has only two color printers which are housed in the administration’s office and school library and the opportunities to use them are extremely limited. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this grant and thank you for your interest and investment in the education processes of the students of Northwest Arkansas.”
