FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — A Gentry man was arrested after deputies say he committed sex crimes against three minors.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said Donald A. Adams, 42, was booked into the Benton County Jail and faces charges of rape, possession of a controlled substance, violations of conditions of release and second-degree sexual assault.
Deputies interviewed the three minors on January 29 and learned of the sex crimes committed against them, court documents state.
Adams has also struck one of the minors with a violin bow and shot her with a BB gun, deputies said.
On Wednesday, a SWAT team entered Adams’ home. He barricaded himself in a closet with a knife, court documents state.
The suspect was later taken into custody. He had “illegal pills” in his pocket, authorities said.
On February 1, investigators learned Adams had pulled a piece of metal from his cell door and slashed his wrist. He was hospitalized and returned to the jail, court documents state. Adams had also carved Bible verses into his right arm.
Adams’ bond has been set at $255,000, and his court date is set for March 12, jail records state.
