BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Fox 24) — Election Day is quickly approaching, and there’s a lot of names you may be seeing and hearing around town. As Your Local Election Headquarters, we want to help you get to know your candidates.
In one of the more closely watched contests, there are five candidates vying to become the next Bentonville Mayor.
Over the next few days, our team will profile each one in our newscasts. Fox 24’s Alex Caprariello introduces you to one of your candidates — Jim Webb.
If you live in Bentonville, chances are you’ve seen his face around town.
“I’ve always been good at when the competition is tough, getting in there, rolling up my sleeves and working hard,” said Jim Webb, Bentonville Mayoral Candidate.
For three generations, Jim Webb’s family has been planted in Bentonville, seeing many changes over the years.
“At the growth we’re going and with Walmart putting in their new home office, I am so excited for Bentonville’s future,” Webb said.
With his name comes support. He says he’s spoken to small and big business owners, blue and white collar families to get to the bottom of issues.
“They want to see somebody who will steer this town straight and be a good rudder and keep this town on course,” Webb said.
Webb says he plans to tackle the issue of street infrastructure, and add more man-power to the fire department. And most important to him, being a mayor who is accessible to the people.
“I think its important that our next leadership moving forward is very transparent and approachable as well as runs a tight budget and we have to make sure we have the infrastructure to support our growth,” Webb said.
Webb says his years in business is what qualifies him for the job. He’s practiced the art of mediation for several companies, an expertise he says will keep the city government in line.
