A group of second grade students in Fayetteville’s Gifted and Talented program took a deeper look into nature Tuesday.
The group learned about habitats and went on hikes while visiting the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks.
Botanical Garden volunteers and teachers led various lessons including one on birds.
“They’ve learned about different birds species and they will end up being able to identify 50 species based on attributes such as bird song, the shape of birds, their color, and their size,” said Mignonne Scarbrough, Gifted and Talented facilitator for Fayetteville Public School.
The kids also learned about bird anatomy, including how they use their beaks to eat certain food, and they also got to build birds nests.
