Girl Scouts USA has rolled out new material to further empower girls.

Thirty new badges look to expose the girls to fields generally dominated by men.

The group hopes to address — what they call — pressing social issues.

Those include cyber security mechanical engineering and space science.

All the new badges align with steam — or science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

“The new material is really helping girls to learn the skills to really make an impact in their communities or nationally, or even globally,” Girl Scout Leadership Experience Specialist Shelby Nuckolls said.

Girl scout leaders say more new material has been  released in the past three years than in the past ten — with most of it being STEAM-based.
