Governor Hutchinson and Engineering Firm Work to Put Out Trafalgar Road Fire

Governor Asa Hutchinson signs a proclamation officially declaring the Trafalgar Road Fire an emergency and is dedicating millions to put it out.

After visiting the fire almost a week ago, the Governor has announced a disaster declaration and plans to provide millions to the engineering firm hired for the project.

We spoke with the team who said after touring the site, “Ensafe is in the initial stages of preparing a plan to put out the fire, eliminate the smoke, and remove the hazardous substances from the site.”

In his proclamation Governor Hutchinson said in part that the funding will, “render maximum assistance to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management” to put the fire out at the site.

In terms of where that funding will come from, the Governor’s office said, “the disaster declaration is a tool to help provide the initial funding more quickly for the engineering firm.”

When it comes to who may have to help repay the state after the fire is put out., Hutchinson’s office said they are still very early in the process.

The Governor is focused on getting it resolved as quickly as possible for the people of Bella Vista.
