An ex-girlfriend of former Arkansas state Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson says she owned a laptop computer that provided information in a federal tax- and wire fraud case against Hutchinson.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Julie McGee testified Tuesday, June 11, on the final day of hearings on Hutchinson’s motion. U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker said she will issue a written ruling on Hutchinson’s motion at a later date.

Hutchinson alleges the laptop was illegally searched by the FBI and charges against him should be dismissed or the evidence taken from it suppressed.

Hutchinson resigned in August and later pleaded not guilty to 12 federal charges of wire fraud and filing false tax returns for allegedly using campaign money for personal expenses.

His uncle is Gov. Asa Hutchinson and his father is former U.S. Sen. Tim Hutchinson.
