If you know how to knit or crochet, the American Heart Association needs your help.

American Heart NWA is calling upon the knitting and crocheting talents of local residents. The cause? To make hundreds of tiny hats for the Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program.

American Heart NWA will give one hat to each baby born at participating hospitals during February, which is American Heart Month.

Little Hats, Big Hearts was established to honor babies and moms and raise awareness of congenital heart defects, and what we can all do to help prevent such defects.

The Heart Association asks that the yarn used for the hats meet the following requirements:

  • Red
  • Cotton or acrylic
  • Medium to heavy weight
  • Machine washable and dryable
