BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Bentonville Film festival continues to help empower women in the film industry.
BFF is celebrating women in media and diversity in the industry. Several female filmmakers, directors, writers, and producers have attended the event. Many conversations at Q&A’s and panels are being led by women.
Festival co-founder Geena Davis said earlier this week she is excited that BFF is helping push the #MeToo movement and advancement of women in film.
Co-founder Trevor Drinkwater also spoke about the importance of diversity in an industry mostly led by men.
“Our mission is as Geena likes to say is, if they can see it they can be it, so we’re really focused on making sure that media champions inclusion and inspires young minds to do great things,” Drinkwater said.
John wildman with BFF says a lot of discussions at the festival talk about women creating their own opportunity in film. He says he’s also seen women initiate conversations about issues they have faced, and men have taken a backseat to listen.
